As 2020 draws to an end, we at Nelson Forensics join many others in classifying the past year as one of the most challenging in our lifetimes. As the ongoing health crisis wreaked havoc on populations worldwide, mother nature also dealt her share of disruption. Meanwhile, our team remained poised and focused on providing answers to our clients’ important technical questions.
Early in the year, our organization rapidly adapted its business procedures and practices in response to the COVID-19 situation for the protection of our staff, clients, and other business partners. The majority of our employees transitioned to a remote-work environment, which was a new experience for many of them. Nevertheless, our team members demonstrated their professionalism and dedication to accomplish our mission through taking extra precautions and making special arrangements when it was necessary to leave the safety and comfort of our homes. Nelson’s normal course of work was accomplished well and with pride; albeit also with far greater individual and team effort than in recent memory.
2020 was a year of growth and maturity for Nelson Forensics, in terms of emotional resilience, logistical and intellectual adaptability, and even in the size of our team across the country. We welcomed new experts to our group, adding to the breadth and depth of our forensic expertise. Our engineers, architects, scientists, and other technical professionals tackled many assignments involving damage assessments of buildings, equipment, and other property related to record-setting hurricanes, tornados, windstorms, earthquakes, and fires. Evaluations of building safety, structural integrity, extent of damage to structures and building envelopes, and assessment of reparability alternatives were common; as were investigations of defects in buildings, building envelopes, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. In addition to focusing on their daily work, our experts responded to multiple hurricane catastrophes, the tornado outbreak in Tennessee, the earthquake in the Salt Lake City area, and the wildfires in the West.
During this rather chaotic year, our team never lost sight of Nelson Forensics’ commitment to excellence in terms of safety, responsiveness, quality, and consistency. For that, we express our most sincere gratitude to each and every member of our organization, and to our loyal clients who place their trust in us every day.
We wish everyone a safe, healthy, and happy Holiday Season; and we are looking forward to a bright and exciting 2021.
