EXPERIENCE
Mr. Long has performed forensic evaluations of numerous structures for a wide range of perils, including hail, wind, tornadoes, hurricanes, snow and ice, water intrusion, fire, tree impact, soil movement, pipe leaks, and construction or design deficiencies. He has assessed multiple types of steep- and low-slope roofing systems, building cladding, structural framing, and foundation systems, and provides clear technical analyses of the cause and extent of damage in support of repair recommendations.
Mr. Long is also a certified Level 1 Thermographer and utilizes infrared thermography to identify and determine the cause and extent of moisture entrapment in roofing systems as a part of forensic investigations.
To supplement his coursework in Architectural Engineering, Mr. Long served as an intern evaluating building envelope systems for quality of installation, conducting industry-standard water leakage investigations, assessing structural elements affected by various deficiencies, and assisting in the preparation of construction documents. He also gained field experience as an intern in the commercial concrete industry, and worked in demolition and excavation, where he interpreted construction documents for the placement of foundation elements, performed soil excavation and grading, and installed structural reinforcement for concrete building components.
Prior to pursuing a degree in Architectural Engineering, Mr. Long served four and a half years in the United States Air Force as a Paramedic and Unit Deployment Manager, where he developed strong skills in documentation, decision-making, and adherence to strict procedural standards.
