Mr. Larsen has performed several hundred evaluations of commercial and residential structures and construction sites. He has provided engineering solutions and damage causation analysis to property owners and managers, attorneys, insurance representatives, contractors, developers, and engineering professionals.
Mr. Larsen’s specialties include analysis of structural systems, roof coverings, and exterior wall assemblies. He is an expert in determining the source and cause of moisture migration into building components. Mr. Larsen is a certified Level II infrared thermographer and is a specialist in investigating wall and roof assemblies for trapped moisture and construction deficiencies using principles of infrared thermography and electrical capacitance.
Mr. Larsen has designed and specified measures to remediate deficiencies in various low and mid-rise buildings of wood, steel, masonry, and cold-formed steel construction. He has authored a publication on the adequacy of design snow loads for roof structures which was reviewed by the Design Standards Committee for adoption in the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures.
Mr. Larsen has delivered local and national seminars and lectures on forensic engineering and investigative technology to a variety of audiences. Mr. Larsen has provided expert testimony regarding design and construction defects, building code analysis, and standard of care issues.
